The SoLa Foundation + Phoenix Entertainment + Dakar Foundation and a Host of Others gave LA County a Huge Hug with a day of Giveaways, Resilience, Love and Entertainment Relief…

Dakar Foundation gives a big shout-out to Sherri Francois, SoLa Foundation, and Chris Jai Alex Phoenix Entertainment “Fire Hearts” , and the huge list of partners for raising money, awareness, and the spirits for the victims of the recent Los Angeles fires yesterday, Feb. 22nd. The event featured a day long program capped off with a comic-hip hop relief’ style format, blending music, comedy, and performances by actors to balance the gravity of the fires’ impact with uplifting and engaging entertainment. The goal was to give people a place to enjoy entertainment, uplift spirits. As well as food, and additional aid directly to those on site. This was wonderful way for volunteers to execute acts of service.

It’s been 45 days since those in Los Angeles woke up to a generational horror — one sprawling neighborhood effectively eliminated by fire overnight, another devastated by the destruction of more than a thousand buildings and homes, and the city almost immediately submerged in a cloud of retributive finger-pointing and scapegoating so thick it seemed almost intended to distract from the scale of devastation itself. Yesterdays event under-girded the reason for a group of proud Angeleno’s who wanted to take back the narrative and spread the Cali Love one to another. “Positivity is contagious, catch it”. By the way we met some cool people from FEMA yesterday.

In these challenging times, we feel the weight of the wildfires as a stark reminder of the importance of preparation for future disasters. Let’s come together, LA County, and work as one to improve our readiness and protect our community.
