Innovation Meets Impact: Microsoft SustAInLA Pitch Awards $15K to Visionary Green /Blue Tech Solutions

In a compelling fusion of environmental stewardship and cutting-edge artificial intelligence, Microsoft hosted a high-impact SustAInLA Pitch event this past Friday June 27th, awarding $15,000 in seed funding to the most promising green/blue tech solutions developed by emerging innovators.

Held at the Microsoft regional offices in Playa Vista, the pitch event spotlighted 6 mission-driven teams, each harnessing AI to tackle critical sustainability challenges—from climate resilience and carbon tracking to water conservation and circular economy initiatives. The competition emphasized actionable innovation, with a panel of executives, impact investors, and environmental scientists judging based on scalability, social impact, and use of Microsoft’s AI tools and cloud platforms.

This pitch competition was part of Microsoft’s ongoing AI for Earth and Cloud for Sustainability initiatives, which provide developers and startups with technical support, grants, and Azure credits to turn bold ideas into measurable impact.

What’s Next?

All 6 pitch teams will receive follow-up support through the Microsoft Sustainability Incubator, gaining access to cloud credits, technical mentorship, and impact measurement frameworks to help them scale.

The event was co-hosted by LAEDC, and was comprised of two teams from LARC , and drew an audience of over 100 entrepreneurs, students, and community leaders.
