Day two of the Youth Edutainment League, was hyper experiential for Dakar Foundation as 10 of our apprentices were on hand to learn cinematic camera operations and prepare for a forum this Friday on the use and impact of AI. We assembled the RED Komodo X, and the V Raptor X, and took both on test drives to capture sights and sounds from yesterdays workshops, Tuesday, July 29th.
Thanks to Chris Jai Alex for directing this day long boot camp for our apprentices who want to be new age preditor and master all facets of the content creation spectrum, including some of the human-creative friendly AI tools that we’re adding to our new pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship standards for California, Georgia, and Nevada.
Day two was special for us as a friend of the program X Eyee came by HartBeat studio stage 2 to have lunch and huddle about future programming, and launch of our new standards in AI enhanced Cinema Storytelling. We’ll spend time this Friday at the finale of YEL, talking with her, and another good friend of the program, Sabrina Lassegue on the pros and cons of AI Enhanced creativity on our Live Podcast, this Friday, August 1st in a Crucial Conversation from the set of the Plastic Cup Boyz broadcast center.

Over 40 young scholars had their spirits lifted, Monday, July 28 at the Youth Edutainment League kickoff. Big shout-outs Kevin Hart and the team led by Darius Disco Farrelly, Munir Mahumud, and the young scholars aged 7-18 who showed up for Day one of the first leg of a five-day experience to give mentoring, scholarship, and technical assistance in the sports, media, and leadership development.

As summer is heating up, and fall semester is just around the corner, the Youth Edutainment League provides an opportunity to bring together the young and seasoned to spark a full-blown industry fire during these times of uncertainty in the entertainment industry, especially for those who are on the margins of inclusion and access.
The Youth Edutainment League (YEL) invited 40+ families to experience something more than just another summer camp — this was Camp Showbiz, where there imagination met innovation and they were encouraged that their voice matters.
They were immersed in beat-making and song writing delivered by Dakar Apprentice, Sayannah, to fashion design, digital storytelling, animation, and acting. Camp Showbiz will commence Tuesday, July29th through Friday August, 1, were Dakar Foundation will provide a day of AI enhanced production to provide a platform to create, collaborate, and shine under the guidance of carefully sourced industry mentors from the network of Kevin Hart’s studio.
This concept was created by Darius “Disco” Farrelly to honor his father’s dream of Camp Showbiz. He stated that ” it’s a career starter, unlocking pathways into sports, entertainment and tech industries with hands-on experiences that would help youth discover their power, speak their truth, and own their futures“.
Day 1 at Camp Showbiz Included:
- Creative Labs: music production, song structure, basketball scrimmage.
- Industry Spotlights: Exposure to Mentorship from the YEL network
- Youth Showcase: Performances in singing, writing, and collaborative production.
The YEL camp hopes to be more than a one week experience — it plans are to become a movement. The YEL is building the next generation of creatives who don’t just consume media, they create it. Day two promises to be just as experiential with another 20 youth joining the week long camp.\
