They gave our community a powerful preview of what’s possible as we begin shaping the vision for Cinema Basel West in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup Finals. Our workshop was held in partnership with the Taxco Theater DCA, Ms. Delores Chavez and. project managed by Dakar Apprentice, Hector Santos is one step away from preparation for a June 24th multimedia experience with a working title of Cinema Basel West.

The highlight for 12 lucky members of the Dakar Apprenticeship team was the presentations by professials; Ski-ter Jones, Clicka , Chris Jai Alex (JellyFish) , and Sidney Bazemore, Music Publisher, the session delivered a fast-paced lightning round of professional tips, tactics, and techniques for the next generation of visual storytellers.
The lucky aspiring apprentices got rare hands-on access to a range of cinema cameras, learning directly from working professionals who understand what it takes to move from passion to precision on set. Again big thanks to Chris, Ski-ter, Sidney, and Ms. Delores Garcia for all of the support.
Participants explored the fundamentals of camera synchronization, audio workflow, lighting, ISO control, and manual focus, while working across an array of lenses ranging from 25mm to 125mm.
The master class emphasized not only the technical side of production, but also the discipline, timing, and visual awareness required to create cinematic images in real-world environments.
This session was more than a workshop. It was a prelude to a bigger movement. As Dakar looks ahead to launching Cinema Basel West, the event reflected our commitment to building a cultural and workforce platform where camera operators, assistants, editors, and creatives can showcase their work, sharpen their skills, and prepare for major content opportunities surrounding global events like the FIFA World Cup 2026.
