SIGGRAPH 2026 Day One: DevOps in Production — Birds of a Feather Flock Together, Especially Los Angeles…

Linna’s opening day of coverage at SIGGRAPH 2026 captured the energy of attendees, ACM SIGGRAPH staff, production partners, and event sponsors arriving at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Sunday, July 19th.

This year marks Dakar Foundation’s fourth SIGGRAPH as official media press, continuing our mission to interview key personnel, document emerging technologies, and explore the future of supercomputing, artificial intelligence, digital production, and the creative-technologist workforce.

My first presentation coverage began with “DevOps in Production,” a Birds of a Feather session organized by Marc Salvati of OLM Digital, Inc. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, we’ll be covering the experiential installations including all of the VIP cocktail parties, lol.

The session examined an important challenge facing today’s production companies. Studios are frequently driven by creative deadlines and immediate production demands, but they may not always have the engineering infrastructure and automated systems commonly found within traditional technology companies.

That is where DevOps becomes essential.

The discussion explored how studios and production teams can use coding standards, workflow automation, artificial intelligence, and other DevOps technologies to create more efficient, reliable, and scalable production pipelines.

Rather than focusing only on theory, the session brought industry professionals together to share production-proven knowledge, practical solutions, and valuable tips for delivering and maintaining technology within real-world creative environments.

Key topics included automating repetitive production and engineering tasks, improving collaboration between creative and technical teams, establishing stronger coding and workflow standards, using AI-powered tools to accelerate production, and building pipelines that can quickly adapt to changing production needs.

The biggest takeaway was that DevOps is no longer limited to software and engineering companies. It is becoming an increasingly important part of film, animation, visual effects, media, gaming, and digital-content production.

For Dakar Foundation and our emerging creative technologists, this presentation offered a valuable look at how engineering, automation, artificial intelligence, supercomputing, and storytelling are converging to shape the future of creative production.

It was a powerful beginning to our SIGGRAPH 2026 coverage—capturing the people, conversations, partnerships, and technologies moving the industry toward smarter, more connected, and increasingly automated creative environments.
